Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing Introduction

What Is Kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing is the water-based side of kiteboarding, an exciting water sport that utilises the power of the wind to move the aspiring participant on a board across water and in other cases across land or even snow!

There are many different disciplines within kitesurfing such as racing, wave riding, freeride, freestyle and more recently hydro foiling.

However, like any extreme sport you need to take bunny steps to start usually under the watchful eye of a trained professional and for this reason “Get Kiteboarding” was formed.

We are an internationally recognised school of kitesurfing with relevant know how and experience to get you started in this great sport.

How Should I Get Started?

Well, first off, you need safe, guided supervision and according to your budget you have several options here.

Ideally, we would recommend a 2 day course followed by private tuition but recognising that some people are not so sure if this is for them, we have a taster session or 1 day option available too.

Normally, we only run taster sessions and 1 or 2 day group training options during the weekends and private sessions during the week.

However, upon request will try to accommodate if you wish to train privately on the weekends and / or if you have a large enough group (3 persons minimum) we may run group sessions during the week too (you will need to email or call 07961 090218 if this is the case)

How Do I Book?

Within above we have a simple and secure online booking system which gives dates and times of relevant courses we offer.

So, simply choose your product from those shown below and book now!

Kitesurfing Courses We Offer

2 Hour Taster Session

(£49 Per Person)

If you are not sure at this stage as to whether you want to commit to kitesurfing then why not try our 2 hour taster session?

This is a fun filled session during which we will introduce you to piloting a power kite and time allowing cover the set up and signals involved in real kitesurfing.

If we have enough wind to fly a power kite you will spend your 2 hours solely on this and if there is no wind then we will then cover the super important aspects of kitesurfing such as setting up a water kite, rescue, signals and safety pack down.

You will see that this is a great way to find out if the sport is for you and is a fantastic gift should you wish to introduce someone else to this great sport.

2 Day IKO Certified Beginner Course

(£190 Per Person)

This course is the one most people choose.

This is a certified course and you will receive an IKO card which shows your level of knowledge & competence & is recognised in kite centres throughout the world.

It is a great introduction to the sport of kitesurfing and during day 2 we introduce controlled body dragging & then look to get you onto your first board starts & possibly your first ride and a recognized level of either level 1 or level 2 within the IKO testing criteria.

After completion of day 2 if you wish to continue your training & get to the next level we highly recommend private training on a 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 basis as this will certainly accelerate your learning far better than the 2 day group scenario.

This course starts either on a Saturday or Sunday at 9am and finishes at 1pm the same day. If you choose the Saturday start date then the following day (Sunday) is your 2nd day and you will be given a start time for day 2, after day 1, as day 2 is water based and therefore according to the wind and tide.

Similarly, if you choose to start day 1 on the Sunday, then day 2 is usually the following Saturday or Sunday and again you will be given a start time according to the wind and tide.

Private Training

Minimum Booking Time: 2 Hours Duration

(1-2-1: £55 Per Person, Per Hour or 1-2-2: £45 Per Person, Per Hour)

Private training is open to all levels, but we mainly find that people opt for this after they have completed the 2 days of group training.

Private training is strictly a minimum of 2 hours per booking as by the time we have sorted kit, got changed and set up equipment we don’t have much time left for the lesson itself.

Privates can be 1-2-1 or 1-2-2 persons & based upon Get Kiteboarding’s excellent teaching record & methods, the coaching will be specific to you & your needs and will help you develop in the fastest and most positive way possible.

We will reinforce any areas that still need to be covered with the main aim being to get you riding independently.

For total beginners who are taking private lessons, the first few hours take a similar path to the 2 day beginner course, but after this we then go much further to cover:

  • In depth equipment analysis & fine tuning of kitesurfing equipment
  • Advanced wind, weather & sea condition theory
  • Advanced stance and weight distribution in relation to riding upwind or on waves
  • Your first transitions & carve turns
  • Introduction of your first olly, pop or jump
  • Aerial tricks & tips
  • Plenty of practice under supervision

Throughout your private training the main aim will be that you have the knowledge and skills needed to continue this sport as an independent kite-surfer & you will be able to choose suitable equipment set up according to the wind, weather & location you are kiting from. Ultimately, you should be will able to kitesurf anywhere in the world safely & have loads of fun after you have completed your training.
